Pep Guardiola discusses Manchester City’s upcoming game against Bournemouth and provides an injury update.
Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, held a press conference to discuss team news and the upcoming game against Bournemouth.
Kevin De Bruyne has returned to training, according to Guardiola, but Aymmeric Laporte and John Stones are unlikely to be in the first-team squad for the Bournemouth game.
When asked about Bournemouth’s recent performances, Guardiola praised their new manager as well as the team’s well-structured play, saying that they had impressed him in recent games.
Guardiola also commented on Manchester City’s performance this season, pointing out that the club has been less successful away from home. He stated that it is not a case of Manchester City performing poorly against other teams, but of other teams performing well against Manchester City.

Guardiola was asked about Erling Haaland and whether people overestimate his number of touches in a game. Guardiola responded that he does not need metrics to determine how involved Haaland is in the game and that it is up to Manchester City to include him more frequently.
Finally, Guardiola was quizzed on Manchester City’s depth and whether the young bench against Leipzig was a cause for concern. Guardiola stated that injuries occur and that he is unconcerned about Manchester City’s depth.
Manchester City will play Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Wednesday, and Guardiola expects a tough match, as he does in all games this season.
